Just Rick and Morty, doing what they do best, and Rick not being some boring shadow of what Rick used to be in the four seasons before this. I’m hoping for a more traditional Rick and Morty adventure, without a bunch of crazy rushed bullshit happening so fast you can barely keep up and it feels like there are no consequences. Let’s hope it redeems itself with the last three episodes. Morty has had tremendous character development, but Rick feels seriously nerfed, like he’s just there because he’s the main character, when most of the episodes just have him in the background not doing much of anything while the real plot excludes him. We all know they exist, but this is not the forum to be exchanging them. The latest episode, Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangeleon, was easily the funniest episode so far (although not my favourite in terms of story and character-that goes to the first episode of the season by far, and the Planetina episode in a close second, which genuinely made me cry), but Rick doesn’t feel like Rick anymore. Rick and Morty: Ricksy Business, (Season 1, Episode 11) SEASON FINALE - Watch. I enjoyed seasons 1–4 a lot more when I rewatched them all just a week and a half ago than I’m enjoying season 5. It feels like they haven’t been able to figure out what the new direction they want to take the show in is going to be yet and they’re just experimenting with a direction that just isn’t working for most of us fans.Įvery season has had its ups and downs, especially season 4, whose first half was extremely mediocre and a lot worse than most of season 5, I’d say, but overall (and by “overall,” I mean the 7/10 episodes that have been released so far), I personally think that season 5 is the worst season so far. Each episode feels like a rushed mess that should’ve gotten 15 more minutes of screen time so the pacing isn’t balls to the walls. Season 5 isn’t terrible, and it has a lot of good moments, but overall, I think it’s severely lacking. Compounded with Mortys already unstable family life, these events cause Morty much distress at home and school. He spends most of his time involving his young grandson Morty in dangerous, outlandish adventures throughout space and alternate universes. If that is the case, they absolutely failed. Rick is a mentally-unbalanced but scientifically gifted old man who has recently reconnected with his family. What does sound plausible is they made a somewhat drastic change in their writing/production department or they all came together to decide a new direction for the show to make it fresh and potentially draw in new fans. The writers consciously decided to make the writing worse because they were annoyed by some of the fans’ elitism?
